Main hall's 150th to be celebrated at Christmas Fair

Dunsden village hall's main hall was first opened at the end of 1869, making it 150 this year. A special souvenir booklet has been produced which tells the hall's fascinating story, beginning as a village school some years earlier. You can download a copy from the parish council website here

This anniversary will be marked on 30 November at an exciting new Christmas fair complete with musical entertainment, a brilliant range of local craft stalls providing brilliant gift ideas and refreshments including mince pies and mulled wine.

Successful hall re-opening

As reported in the Henley Standard and elsewhere, our magnificent new hall was officially re-opened by the Chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council on Saturday May 5, 2018. It now offers impressively extended and refurbished facilities, including a new foyer and a stunning extension to main hall which now has underfloor heating and new kitchen and lighting. The bookings diary is filling up fast and we've had some amazing feedback from our hirers. For booking enquiries please email DunsdenVillageHallBooking@gmail.com. Please note that viewings are by appointment only.

November 21017: our improvement works are almost complete!

Our much needed improvement works started on 10th July.  The sheds came down... and we found a beautiful foundation stone which is now a proud feature of a sparkling new extension to the Main Hal
l.  A new reception area to link the halls together is currently being constructed together with work on our small hall, the Palmer Room.

The extended Main Hall with impressive views over the beautiful countryside is now complete and fully functioning with a new kitchen and lavatories; energy efficient underfloor heating and double-glazed windows to make it super-cosy in Winter and a new outdoor store with WCs for people wanting to hire our lovely paddock.  Don't worry though... we're maintaining the beautiful character of the old Victorian School - so we'll still have the stunning vaulted ceilings and period brickwork.

We've got amazing support from the local community and day one kicked off with a meeting with our flexible friends, contractors 2M and our super supplier of building materials - Peppard Building Supplies.   Grabloader are helping us with that all important muck away as well.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to our new improved facilities later in the year.  Bookings are already being taken for weddings in 2019, and with our lovely enclosed garden, the hall is the perfect venue for children's parties.

We'd value your support - whether you'd like to become a Trustee or indeed simply volunteer at one of our events.   The Trustees meet approx. 10 times per year and help make decisions on the future of the hall - how it's run, events, fundraising and improvement works; we welcome new faces and ideas.

If you think you can help in any capacity, we'd love to hear from you - please contact dunsdenvillagehall@yahoo.co.uk.
